Jottings – Darby Bible. Last updated 9 October 2026 (site administrator in groups).
Jottings is owned and operated by TeamChrome.AI LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company based in Madison Heights, Michigan.
You can read, search and study the whole Bible in this app without creating an account, and in that case no data about you leaves your device unless you send us feedback. If you choose to create an account, we store the minimum needed to run reading streaks, jottings, friends and reading groups. Your profile is private unless you choose otherwise. We never sell data, we show no advertising, and there is no third-party analytics or tracking SDK in the app. The few outside services that receive any data are named below.
Reading position, bookmarks, highlights, outlines, reading preferences (text size, theme, font) and the Bible text itself are kept on your device only. If you later sign in, the bookmarks, highlights and outlines on the device move into your account.
Nobody can find you by searching: someone can invite you only by typing your handle exactly, scanning a code you show them, or through contacts if you both opt in. An invite to a handle gets the same answer whether or not that handle exists or accepts invites, so the feature cannot be used to test who uses the app. A declined invite is never reported to its sender. Blocking someone ends a friendship and removes everything shared along it.
Camera. On the phone, the camera is used only while you scan a friend's invite code, and only to read that code. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent except the code itself. Invite codes are random, carry no personal data, work once and expire after 10 minutes.
Contacts. Only if you choose "Find friends from my contacts": the app reads the phone numbers and email addresses in your contacts on your device, turns each into a scrambled fingerprint (a salted SHA-256 hash) there, and sends only the fingerprints. Names and everything else in your contacts never leave the device, and the fingerprints you send are compared and then discarded, not stored. You see only people who chose "Let contacts find me", as their handle and display name. If you choose "Let contacts find me", the fingerprints of the phone number and email you enter yourself are stored with your account until you turn it off. Be aware that the fingerprint of a phone number can be worked back by someone who tries every possible number, so this setting is for people happy to be found by those who already know how to reach them. Matching is rate-limited to make trying numbers in bulk impractical.
To enforce bans, while you are signed in the server records a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the network address (IP; for IPv6, its /64 network) and of the device identifier (the app's Android ID, or a random id on the web) each sign-in and session comes from, with when it was first and last seen; the address and identifier themselves are not stored. Content is checked by automatic rules, and reported or flagged content by the AI moderator described above. An account banned for attacking a church or its members, for illegal content, or by the site admin is removed from every group and friendship and its content is hidden from everyone; its network and device fingerprints, the fingerprints of its Google account and email, and the contact fingerprints it chose to share are kept so the same person cannot return, and are used for nothing else. Hidden content is retained, not deleted, because the law requires evidence of some illegal content to be preserved and reported. Content reported as copying someone else’s work is hidden while it is reviewed; the notice and counter-notice process is on the copyright page. Your fingerprints are included in your data export and deleted with your account.
If you use Send feedback, we store your message, the email address if you give one (only to reply to you), the app version and platform, and your account if you are signed in. Only the developer reads it. Feedback from an account is deleted with the account and included in its data export.
No advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs (the device fingerprint above is used only to enforce bans), no selling of personal data, no sharing beyond the services named above, no location or microphone access, and no camera or contacts access except as described above, when you ask for it. No push notifications: a notice of a friend's reaction is a local notification the app raises itself while it is open, and only if the streak reminder is on. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Account data is stored on a server operated by TeamChrome.AI LLC in the United States (AWS, Ohio region). Google sign-in, when used, is subject to Google's privacy policy.
Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and everything tied to it (activity, bookmarks, highlights, outlines, group memberships and posts, groups you own, friendships, invites, reactions, reports you made, contact fingerprints and your other fingerprints) immediately and permanently. Reports made about you are kept for moderation, as above. Settings → Account → Your data can also delete just your friends data. You can also request deletion at /account-deletion. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone without an account, apart from feedback they choose to send. Accounts are optional and intended for users 13 and over.
